MapSAG

9-1-1 GIS Data Management System

A comprehensive mapping and 9-1-1 data maintenance solution

Your 9-1-1 database and related mapping information is the lifeblood of your entire 9-1-1 system.  MapSAG is the original ‘Graphic MSAG’ product for achieving synchronization between your 9-1-1 and mapping database.  MapSAG also has a large number of tools providing a simplified means for adding new map elements, assigning addresses to roads and structures, field collection using GPS, geocoding and many other editing tasks.  These tools ultimately simplify the data update process while insuring accuracy and consistency in your GIS and 9-1-1 databases.

In order to insure data accuracy in existing or newly collected data, MapSAG automatically flags any erroneous entry through a proprietary validation procedure which has been developed over several years.  These errors may be in one or more GIS datasets, MSAG data, ALI, Emergency Service Zone (ESZ) or a combination of several datasets.  After performing a data validation, the user has the opportunity to correct any problems which have been identified.

MapSAG offers an automated interface with 3rd party 9-1-1 database systems, allowing the GIS edits to generate necessary 9-1-1 database changes created as a result of the edits.  These 9-1-1 database changes are automatically generated and can be forwarded to the 9-1-1 database.  Various reporting features are also available for the tracking of GIS and 9-1-1 database updates and changes

Benefits

  • Detailed analysis of mapping data accuracy
  • Synchronization between the MSAG and GIS
  • Streamlined addressing assignment
  • Proactive management of 9-1-1 related data
  • Electronic management of data updating and reporting
  • Advanced custom GPS interface
  • Reduced introduction of errors
  • Increased productivity
  • More accurate data

Additional Benefits

  • Increased Call Location Ability
When the MSAG database contains erroneous information about an address, location information may be incorrect for emergency calls. MapSAG corrects errors in the MSAG database and, therefore, increases the percentage of incoming calls with accurate location information.
  • Increased Staff Productivity
MapSAG allows for both the GIS and MSAG databases to be updated at once. Electronic change requests are generated by MapSAG and sent to the MSAG database maintainers, eliminating what was previously a manual step. Because updates are made visually using a map, they are more intuitive and lead to increased productivity. Multiple data edits may be made concurrently.
  • ESRI Platform
Developed on ESRI’s ArcGIS technology in 2002 making it the industry’s first ArcGIS-based 9-1-1 GIS data development and maintenance system.  Currently operating in ArcGIS 9.1 and ArcGIS 9.2, including ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo.
  • ArcSDE / ArcServer Integration
Allows for a multi-editor RDBMS environment through the use ArcSDE and ArcServer.  Years ago, MapSAG was the first 9-1-1 GIS maintenance product to interface with ArcSDE.
  • NENA Compliant
MapSAG can produce entire and complete NENA-compliant MSAG data file, NENA-compliant MSAG and ALI database update change requests and NENA-compliant ALI database files.
  • Little Training Required
MapSAG runs on ESRI ArcGIS, the industry's standard GIS platform, enabling GIS staff to leverage existing skill sets.
  • Reduced Liability Exposure
Using a proactive approach to data accuracy will reduce data error rates and therefore, potentially reduce liability exposure.

“I can't recommend Contact One highly enough. I looked at several other companies and no one else came close to a product that performs as well as theirs does or has all of the features. Also, their customer service is great. Anytime I need help I just call or email them and they respond that day. I know of several other people that have purchased their product and they love it.”
