Advanced processes to ensure database accuracy

Instills confidence in your data

The heart of your 9-1-1 system is the 9-1-1 and mapping data used for locating and responding those in emergent need.  Protecting and ensuring continued data accuracy is paramount to a timely and precise emergency response.  Because data is either correct or incorrect, it is imperative to have accuracy in real-time.

The 9-1-1 database is in continual change because the telephone company and 9-1-1 database provider perform daily updates, changes and edits.  To ensure that all edits performed on your 9-1-1 or data are performed accurately, on-going monitoring and evaluation must be performed.

The MSAG and GIS matching and data auditing process, which has been developed through software development and project work over the last five years, is one item that separates Contact One, Inc. from all other companies.  Having performed countless 9-1-1 database development project over the years, a detailed data auditing process was developed and refined.

9-1-1 and mapping data evaluation details

Contact One provides customers with both one-time as well as on-going 9-1-1 and map data audits with the use of our proprietary process and experienced 9-1-1 GIS Data Analyst team.  The audit evaluations are consistent, standardized tests which are performed on your agency’s data.  Audits reveal any data anomalies or disparities.  Internal procedures and data analysis produce detailed reports which are delivered to the customer for review.  Customers then have the opportunity to correct the data inaccuracies themselves or request that the corrections be performed by our 9-1-1 Data Analysts.  Do you evaluate and audit your data regularly in order to insure that all changes made by your staff or a third party are correct?

In most cases, the telephone companies currently do not utilize an external checks-and-balances system for the MSAG data.  This particular process performed by the Contact One 9-1-1 GIS Data Analyst team ensures that the accuracy level of the 9-1-1 data far exceeds requirements.  The existing ESN Data layer as well as addressing scheme/methodology information.

To be sure that all street centerlines are “connected” as well as to ensure that there are no addressing gaps or problems with other GIS data elements, a comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) process is performed as part of the audit.  This QA/QC process is proprietary to Contact One, Inc. and utilizes the years of experience garnered from performing similar projects in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas and many other states across the United States. A very limited subset of the over 30 items evaluated through 9-1-1 database and GIS audit process includes:

Required Field Missing

  Street Prefix Type Not Found

Address Range Overlap

Address Range Parity

Address Range Gap
